Mission Statement

Assessment and evaluation is one of the major challenges of Higher Education today. This is because its squares the desire for improved constructivist learning against the demand for institutional reliability and accountability. SIG 1 is interested in addressing the need for pedagogically driven models of assessment and electronic assessment that can allow students to take more control of their own learning and become more reflective. We are particularly interested in research from school to university level which include the following topics:

  • Theoretical influences on assessment and evaluation
  • Feedback in assessment
  • Lifelong learning and assessment
  • Socially responsible and effective e-assessment
  • Co-constructing knowledge with collaborative assessment
  • Web 2.0 and other new directions for e-assessment
