General Terms and Conditions

By creating an EARLI account, purchasing an EARLI membership or registering for an EARLI conference / event, you are accepting the following general terms and conditions:

Code of Conduct

By joining EARLI as a member, or by purchasing registration for any of our events, you are expected to abide by the EARLI Code of Professional Ethics and Conduct (COPEC).

Membership

  • Please note that memberships run per calendar year. This means that memberships will always expire at the end of the calendar year, regardless of when they have been purchased.
  • Please note that EARLI memberships (incl. SIG memberships) are non-refundable and deemed exempt from the EU right of withdrawal, according to Article 16 of the Consumer Rights Directive (Directive 2011/83/EU).
  • JURE members are asked to submit a proof of their student status or date of PhD degree to complete their membership purchase. Please note that in order to approve and activate your JURE membership, both payment and proof are needed.
  • Longstanding members are kindly requested to a proof of identity, demonstrating that they are 67 years or older. Please note that in order to approve and activate your longstanding membership, both payment and proof are needed.

Registration

CONFERENCE REGISTRATION

  • Please note that conference registration is deemed non-refundable and deemed exempt from the EU right of withdrawal, according to Article 16 of the Consumer Rights Directive (Directive 2011/83/EU).

  • Conference registration cannot be transferred to someone else.
  • Please ensure that your membership has been fully activated (paid and approved) to ensure that you are charged the correct fee.

CONFERENCE DINNERS AND SOCIAL EVENT TICKETS

  • Please note that conference-related tickets for social events (dinners, visits, ...) are deemed non-refundable and deemed exempt from the EU right of withdrawal, according to Article 16 of the Consumer Rights Directive (Directive 2011/83/EU).
  • You may transfer your ticket to another person, either as a gift or by selling it on, without intervention of the EARLI Office.

Communication

  • EARLI will send updates and information about its activities on a regular basis.
  • You can choose which type of emails you wish to receive from EARLI, by checking or unchecking the communication tags in your EARLI account.
  • You can unsubscribe from our mailinglist at any time.

We allow the following payment methods:

Please note that payments via bank transfer cannot be accepted.

Invoices

All orders (membership and events) will be followed up with an invoice, issued to the invoice details entered when making your purchase. Please allow up to 5 business days for your invoice to be issued.

Insurance

The conference organisers cannot accept liability for personal injuries sustained, for loss of, or damage to property belonging to conference participants (or their accompanying persons), either during or as a result of the conference. Please check the validity of your own travel insurance.

EARLI excludes all liability or obligation when an extraordinary event or circumstance beyond the control of EARLI occur that prevents it from actually hosting the conference/event.
